What if the Hauber Method™ Doesn't Help Me?
Since I first started teaching the Hauber Method™ program in workshops in 2011, I knew that it was special. It directly addressed and solved the problem so many of my clients had--and that had personally inspired me to get into fitness in the first place: back and joint pain.
The exercises and stretches in the program were selected and arranged in a specific way because they work best that way to solve the real physical problems that pain sufferers have.
But there is another aspect to pain.
It's a side of pain that, for many clients, needs to be addressed if they wish to realize the lasting relief from pain that I have achieved myself.
It's this: Our emotions have an enormous impact on the physical health and wellness of our body. And if we neglect our emotions, they can stop us from healing our pain.

What do you mean? Emotions cause pain?
Not exactly, but you're not far off.
Rather, in order to fully heal physical body pain, we all must admit and become aware of the fact that we have emotional reactions to everything in our lives,
And I mean everything.
Therefore, any kind of pain can cause an emotional reaction. Such as:
Rather, in order to fully heal physical body pain, we all must admit and become aware of the fact that we have emotional reactions to everything in our lives,
And I mean everything.
Therefore, any kind of pain can cause an emotional reaction. Such as:
- Pain can cause us to feel depressed, as if we will never be able to live a normal, pain-free life again.
- Pain can cause us to feel anxious, as if with one false move, the pain will grab us and hold on for weeks.
- Pain can make us feel angry, as if this whole life is unfair and why did we have to be the ones to suffer?
- Pain can make us feel helpless and powerless, as if nothing we do will ever make it go away.
And when you have those kinds of emotional reactions to even one small bout of physical pain, but you pretend that you don't have those feelings, it actually can stop you from healing.
Even worse, when you judge yourself as weak and incapable of handling something (stress, physical challenges, emotional challenges, a difficult relationship, etc.), you are negating yourself. You are telling yourself that you are wrong, bad, or unworthy of loving attention.
Your body listens to these emotion-generated beliefs and has a really, really hard time figuring out how to heal because it, too, starts to believe it is wrong, bad, or unworthy of loving attention.
This all might sound really strange.
You might be thinking, This can't be my experience at all!
But if you do the exercises and stretches in the Hauber Method™ exactly as I have taught them, and they don't help you reduce or eliminate your pain, then it's time to look at your emotions as the culprit.
I know that's the case, because I have experienced it myself and with a small handful of really tricky clients.
Our stubborn, fearful, or simply unconscious habit of ignoring our emotions and judging ourselves harshly (for having negative emotions, for not being perfect, for struggling, or even for having pain in the first place) can actually stop our bodies from healing!
Those tricky clients I mentioned were a gift, because they inspired me to gather a truly amazing set of resources for helping pain sufferers identify, access, and resolve the emotional issues that stopped them from healing.
I wrote a lot about those emotion-focused adjuncts already in my article Five Healing Modalities that Complement the Hauber Method™.
I have benefited so much from participating in those modalities myself, and I bring that wisdom into our sessions together, too.
I'm willing to go to great lengths to help you achieve the level of healing I know you can achieve!

What's the bottom line?
The only time I have seen the Hauber Method™ not help someone is when they either had (1) spondylolisthesis, (2) nerve damage caused by an inoperable compound vertebral fracture, or (3) a hyper-developed Type A personality that didn't allow the person to relax, accept help, and admit they felt weak and scared and needed help learning to heal.
If you recognize yourself in that third description, please take a deep breath and know it's not all over for you.
If your pain is not helped by the physical movements I teach, then let's figure out what emotions are standing in your way. I will never judge your mindset, your habits, or your emotional state. Every single trait, state, and quality you present to me as a person is valid.
And guess what?
With the Hauber Method™, I create the environment for all of those things to happen.
When you are ready to heal, and ready to work with your body to help it heal, no matter the complex emotions such healing brings up, then the Hauber Method™ will help you heal.
Let's get started.

- Feeling empowered to handle and express our own emotions in real time can help a body heal.
- Letting yourself feel vulnerable, uncertain, scared, and worthy of help and assistance can help a body heal.
- Having our feelings validated, rather than dismissed or ignored, can also help a body heal.
