Why Does My Back Hurt?

The most common physical contributors to low back pain are
  • spinal misalignment due to poor posture and weak/untrained core stabilizers,
  • tight or shortened hip flexors,
  • weak, tight, or imbalanced gluteals, and
  • tight hamstrings.

The most common contributors to upper back and neck pain are
  • tight chest muscles,
  • forward-head posture,
  • untrained middle-back muscles,
  • tight internal rotators, and
  • improperly trained shoulder stabilizers.
Most of these problems result from sitting too much, exercising mainly the prime movers rather than the deep core and spinal and pelvic stabilizers, and not having any information about how your back, hips, and shoulders are supposed to align or function.

Is this your fault? No way!

Our convenience-focused, mainly sedentary society, and our poor excuse for a health education system, have conspired to make it extremely difficult to live without back pain.

But here’s the good news:

Your back was not designed to hurt!
Sitting with bad posture causes back pain
Sitting this way is so bad for our bodies!

Did you know that 20% to 40% of surgeries for lower back pain
fail to actually end the patient's pain?

And surgery can introduce lasting nerve pain that was not present prior to surgery.
"Failed back surgery syndrome" is actually a medically recognized syndrome!
Click here to read some of the research on this sad state of affairs.

There are solutions to your misery, and they do not involve chiropractic adjustments, injections, pain meds, physical therapy, Pilates®, yoga, or spinal decompression; and they almost certainly do not involve surgery.

While those methods can give temporary relief, you want a long-term solution.

That solution is consistent use of the Hauber Method™—a progressive, anatomically sound method designed to stimulate and increase strength and endurance in your spinal and pelvic stabilizers while also increasing flexibility and function in your hip and shoulder joints.

Usually, that is all the help you need to feel better fast—and stay pain-free.

Why is that? How could pain relief be so simple?

Because the exercises and stretches in the Hauber Method™ (THM) allow your body to find its natural alignment—alignment that doesn’t cause pain.

When you
  • sit too much with poor posture
  • train or exercise the prime mover muscles and not the deep joint stabilizers,
  • lack knowledge about what the proper spinal curves and joint positions should be, and
  • have not been properly educated how to train your muscles to obtain that proper, neutral, pain-free position as you go about your day,
you will very likely have pain.

This is why I created the Hauber Method™. Just watch this brief video explaining my philosophy and the foundations of the program.

Sara Hauber explains the theoretical foundation of her proven exercise program for helping people stop long-term back pain: The Hauber Method™.

Remember, your back was not designed to hurt.

When you learn how to function in such a way to restore your body’s proper skeletal alignment--and you learn that your body is not your enemy--your pain can finally disappear.

In contrast to unnecessary surgery, the Hauber Method™ shows you how to stop your pain without going through the trauma and expense of surgery, without risking nerve pain or other tissue damage, and with long-term, positive results.

Most users of THM report relief instantly after practicing even 5 minutes of the exercises I teach.

Of course, every body will respond at a different speed due to both physiological and psychosocial factors. And there are a few rare conditions (e.g., some types of spondylolisthesis, nerve impingement due to congenital skeletal defects, fractured bones that require surgery to restore bone integrity) that THM—or any other non-invasive treatment--cannot help unless surgical intervention occurs first.

Luckily, unless you have been diagnosed with one of those rare conditions, this program will help you.
All you need to do is to get started with your introductory online session now.

With personal online sessions, you’ll learn far more than you ever thought possible, and walk away feeling empowered to maintain pain-free movement for life.

Postural misalignment, and consistent misalignment over time (like the skeleton walking in this illustration), is likely a major factor in your back pain. Life stressors also typically play a major role. By learning to work with your body and take some control in your life, you can make a major difference in how you move and feel.

With THM, you learn to systematically, logically, gently, and progressively undo your misalignment problem—and actually become empowered to keep yourself pain-free from now on (just like these people have done).
